Have you ever been told by your doctor that your tilted uterus was a variation of “normal”? How about pregnancy symptoms?  Are you expected to just live with acid reflux, back pain, ligament pain, headaches and more just because you are pregnant?  Stop living with reproductive symptoms as your new state of common and optimize lymph, blood, nerve, and energy flow with The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

After honing my prenatal massage therapy from 2007-2016, I had become a really popular massage therapist and quickly became the top therapist at the MomSpa before leaving in 2013.  As I transitioned deeper into birth doula work, I was noticing alignment and symptomology in my prenatal session’s, but I wasn’t effecting real change.  My clients really loved my work, but it was just a really great deep tissue massage on pregnant women.  I had hit a wall in my field and started desiring a deeper level of understanding for myself and my community; I wanted more.

I started an incredible journey in 2016 and will continue onto my 5th level of training in 2019.  Welcome to The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®. (ArvigoInstitute.com)

The popular search words for The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is Maya Abdominal Massage or Mayan Abdominal Massage, but your session is so much more than Maya Abdominal Therapy.  Arvigo® Therapy is a unique protocol used under many professional licensure’s as a form of bodywork, but what makes Arvigo® Therapy so unique is the combination of back work, self-care strokes, and additional support when indicated.

I like to describe your experience in my office as a cross between a massage and physical therapy as we utilize techniques for both the front and back of the body.  This allows space within your body to increase blood, nerve, lymph, and energy flow through-out the abdominal and pelvic area.

Dr. Rosita Arvigo always talks about how it is better to have an empty house than a dirty tenant, and that is exactly how we will approach your reproductive and digestive health.   As we begin to restore the flow there may be a period of “dust flying in the air”, or you may feel like “there are piles of stuff that need to be cleared and organized” in your home/ aka your body.  As we work together as a team, you can begin to feel balance return to the body and homeostasis restored.

This is going to take commitment from both of us, as you restore balance.  I promise to provide consistent treatment, be available for questions between appointments, and continue to grow and learn within my field.  Are you ready to take your heath into your own hands, collaborate during sessions in my office, and complete your self care homework between our sessions?

The Details

Initial Consultation and Assessment

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is unlike massage therapy sessions in that your comprehensive initial consultation will begin with ample time to go over your health history, concerns, and wellness goals; followed by a one hour session to fully assess and begin treating imbalances within the soft tissue structures; and end with an in depth follow-up discussion including self-care homework.  Arrive feeling inspired, and leave feeling heard and confident in a treatment plan created just for you.

Advanced Clinical Protocol

The Arvigo® Advanced Clinical Protocol layers additional assessment tools and corrections for uterine and pelvic alignment when indicated.  This allows a more customized treatment plan based on your initial consultation’s assessment results.  When working towards reproductive and digestive goals a you can expect open and clear communication before, during, and between appointments; as well as progress reports every 3 months towards your goals. Clients who perform their self-care homework on a routine basis report an improvement in their symptoms.

The Arvigo Institute, LLC Recommends the following treatment plans for Reproductive and Digestive health:

  • 3 visit increments scheduled no more then one month apart to maintain a therapy and self-care routine to assess improvements towards wellness goals.

Advanced Pregnancy Protocol

The Arvigo® Advanced Pregnancy Protocol will focus on releasing the soft tissue structures (muscles, ligaments, tendons, and connective tissue) in order to allow mother and baby to settle into an optimal position.  Sometimes the techniques may feel uncomfortable, like a deep tissue massage, but most of the time it should feel supportive and nutritive as the blood, nerves, and lymph flow more freely and homeostasis can return.  It is important to clarify that although the body often chooses to find balance, this work does not manipulate nor force the mom or baby into a specific position.

The Arvigo Institute, LLC Recommends the following treatment plans during the childbearing year:

  • Prenatal Therapy – 8-10 visits to fully address your pregnancy needs.
  • Birth Prep: Ready Set Go – weekly sessions from 38 weeks gestation until birth.
  • Postpartum Therapy  – When recovering from a birth by cesarean, 2 sessions a month for 3 months combined with self-care and additional at home modalities to restore full recovery.

I had a wonderful experience working with Danica. It was my second child, so I was on the fence about needing a doula when I met with Danica. Her warmth, positive energy and extensive knowledge won me over. She takes a comprehensive approach to her partnership with you and your journey, listening and responding thoughtfully and working on specific problem areas that pertain to you. We found out our baby was breech shortly after getting on board with Danica, around 36 weeks. She worked with me using Arvigo techniques and Mayan abdominal therapy to open the connective tissues around the pelvis. We did a joint session with an acupuncturist to encourage the baby to move, which was great. I ended up having a manual version in the hospital to flip the baby, which was a success, thanks in large part to all the bodywork Danica did with me beforehand. She was wonderful during the birth as well, jumping in when needed, and hanging back when she sensed we were in a flow. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great, highly trained doula who is also a skilled massage therapist who brings multiple techniques to the table.
